Programme Management
Broner utilises a proven methodology and project execution framework refined over twenty years of delivering metals supply-chain solutions. The foundation of the methodology is developing a complete understanding of the process and value drivers and executing customized projects and programs based on the client’s needs, business processes and specific operating conditions and constraints.
Broner’s methodology serves to determine, at an early stage, the scope and benefits of a customer’s project and/or program. Once both the customer and Broner understand the scope and benefits, the methodology focuses on successfully delivering a Broner solution that meets the customer’s requirements, schedule and budget. The methodology also provides for the maintenance of the solution so that maximum benefits are realized.
The objectives of Broner’s project methodology and their associated project phases are:
-
Assess: Explain why a solution should be pursued.
-
Define: Define the system based on customer's requirements and specify how the system will be implemented using Broner’s solutions.
-
Execute: Develop a solution for the system.
-
Deliver: Test and implement the system and transition the project into the support phase.
- Sustain: Support the system to maintain the delivered benefits.

This phased approach minimizes project risk to both the customer and Broner, with checkpoints to validate project progress against identified milestones.
Broner’s project and program management approach is defined in the context of nine components. These well-defined components are reflected in an execution plan developed early in the life of the project or program and ensure that all critical elements of delivery are addressed and aligned for success. Execution plan components include:
- Organization: A detailed organization chart, clearly defined roles and responsibilities for the program and/or project manager and the project team(s), resourcing plans and staffing/destaffing processes.
- Communication: Established communication pathways for task, project and, if applicable, program progress.
- Process and Methodologies: The program/project management processes of initiation, planning, execution, reporting, monitoring and close-out as well as the detailed work breakdown structures which underlie each of the project phases.
- Leadership and Management: A clear definition of the various drivers that determine how a given program will be executed, which may include safety requirements, customer satisfaction requirements, technology-specific requirements and internal Broner business requirements.
- Education and Training: This addresses the provision of a continuous exchange of information and includes a training plan.
- Systems and MIS: Focused on ensuring sound program/project management information systems are in place to yield real-time information availability for the project team.
- Metrics and Measurement: Two levels of metrics: those specific to project success (customer satisfaction, schedule and financial KPIs) and those required to measure the value of the solution delivered to the customer.
- Financial: The financial plan relative to payment milestones, payment mechanisms and invoicing (including time and expense tracking and reporting for reimbursable elements of the project)
- Risks: The means by which potential risk issues will be identified, tracked, mitigated, resolved and communicated.
