Broner Melt Shop Control Centre
The Melt Shop Control Centre is the master co-ordinator between the melt shop, the flow of hot metal into the melt shop, the flow of hot metal and liquid steel inside the melt shop and the flow of slabs (and other) out of the melt shop to the rolling mills. By providing real-time control and co-ordination, taking into account the actual availability, timing and characteristics of each item of plant, the Melt Shop Control Centre reduces buffer times, increases productivity and maximises utilisation.
Rapid production changes can be made in real-time, based on identified resource conflicts, developing bottlenecks and material flow. For example by casting wider slabs to consume metal faster when there is an increase in hot metal delivery.
Benefits
- Increases productivity and cost-efficiency of production facilities and resource utilisation
- Effectively co-ordinates the production units of the steel making plant
- Increases visibility of the ongoing and planned production
- Allows early detection of likely conflicts and developing bottlenecks.
Features
- Real time integration with process systems
- Interactive GANTT chart displays the status of all heats and highlights areas of conflict
- Report-only GANTT chart available for display at operator consoles
- Scheduling model includes crane movements
- Considers ladle status and lifetime
- Predicts liquid-iron inventory usage
- Models torpedo car status
- Models casting temperature and temperature loss during transit.
